Scientific and Practical Conference: ‘Foreign Languages and Translation in the Age of Global Communication: Challenges and Prospects for Training International-Level Specialists’

On 23 March 2026, the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv hosted a scientific and practical conference entitled ‘Foreign Languages and Translation in the Age of Global Communication: Challenges and Prospects for Training International-Level Specialists’.

The aim of the conference was to discuss current issues and prospects for the development of translation studies and language education in the context of globalisation.

The official languages were Ukrainian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Turkish and Japanese.

The conference was opened by Valerii Kopiika, Professor and Director of the Educational and Research Institute of International Relations.

Participants were also welcomed by Olena Pryiatelchuk, Professor and Deputy Director for Academic and Pedagogical Affairs; Valentina Dayneko, Professor and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages; and Lyudmyla Prysyazhnyuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages.

During the conference, students from the Institute of International Relations delivered research presentations under the guidance of lecturers from the Department of Foreign Languages.

Presentation: ‘The Problem of Factual Errors in Neural Machine Translation of Texts of Public International Law’ was delivered by fourth-year students Oleksandra Kosenko and Oleksandra Zelenska.
