Head of the Department, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Serhiy Danylenko

The Department of International Media Communications and Communication Technologies (IMCCT) was established in October 2012 as a new division of International Information to train specialists in the field of international communication and world media, including international journalism. Doctor of political sciences, professor Valerii Kopiika was the head of the department from 2012 to December 2015.

The task of the department is to create conditions for students with the opportunity to gain competence and to improve knowledge in the labour market and in modern communication technologies and media communications, in particular international journalism, based on mastering three professional skills:

  • deep knowledge and current competence in the field of professional activity – field of international relations
  • fluency in several foreign languages
  • a practical improvement of creativity to write journalistic texts and TV and radio programs for local and world media


The professional potential of the graduate of the department is enhanced by his ability to use the capabilities of modern communication technologies, including public relations, branding, government relations, lobbying, and reputation management, to solve problems in the political, economic and media spheres.

Students of the department will be able to work in the international environment as international journalists, as analysts of consolidated information, and image-makers or public relations specialists.

The department provides teaching on educational programs of educational level "bachelor" and "master" a number of normative professionally-oriented disciplines, including: "Public Relations", "Theory of Communication", "Conflictology", "Imagelogy", as well as the block of elective disciplines - "Theory and Practice of Negotiation", "Media relations", "International Media Communications", "Theory and Practice of International Advertising", "Press Service", "Decision Theory in International Relations", "Mass Communication ","Brand Communications", "Rhetoric (Speechwriting) in government cases", "Internet PR", "Visual Analytics and Forecasting", "Information Geopolitics", "Reputation Management", "Ethnopsychology".

Within specialization on the educational program of educational level "International Communications - "International Media Communications, and on the educational program of educational level “International journalism”, for which the department of  IMCCT is basic, special courses and courses of students` free choice are taught: "Theory and Practice of International Journalism", "International Media analytics", "Professional standards of mass mediа", "Application packages in international journalism", "Television studio commentary (workshop)", "Master class of analytical genres", "Master class of information genres", "State branding in IR", "Public Relations in government", "Psychotechnologies of Influence in IR"," Media and conflict resolution "," Master Class "International PR-practice".
