Internships and professional development for teachers

Oleksandr I. Shnyrkov has participated in more than 20 international scientific and educational projects under the programs TEMPUS, TACIS, INTAS, NATO, UNESCO, Jean Monnet, ERASMUS, and others. He is a member of the Educational and Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the specialty of International Economic Relations; Academic Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (2019–2022); Scientific Adviser at the Razumkov Centre (Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies); and a member of the editorial boards of five academic journals at various times.

Anton S. Filipenko completed academic and pedagogical internships at universities in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Greece, Germany, Italy, the United States, France, and Hungary. He has taken part in a number of national and international scientific and educational projects, including work on document preparation for the Administration of the President of Ukraine and draft laws for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Rita O. Zablotska participated in the internal mobility project for lecturers of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Kyiv National Economic University (DAAD) (2022); from January 21 to May 31, 2021, she undertook a research internship at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry — Certificate of the UCCI dated May 31, 2021.

Nataliia V. Reznikova took part in the research and pedagogical internship “Innovative Educational Technologies: European Experience and Its Implementation in the Training of Specialists in Economics and Management” (Riga, Republic of Latvia, May 5 – June 15, 2025), and in the research and pedagogical internship at the University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz, Poland, within the programme “Economics, Management and Business Administration in the System of Cross-Border Cooperation”, Certificate No. 218-01/2022 (2022). She served as an expert in a number of international and national projects.

Valerii I. Mazurenko participated in the 2nd International Professional Development Programme for Educational and Research Leaders and Academic Staff “Together with Outstanding Leaders of the Present: Values, Experience, Knowledge, Competences, and Technologies for Forming a Successful Personality and Transforming the Surrounding World” (August–October 2021). During 2023–2025, he taught at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of International Business, Federal Republic of Germany.

Oleksii A. Chuhaiev has completed multiple internships (State Institution “Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”; Faculty of Economics, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), attended training programs in Ukraine and abroad (Austria, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain), and participated in organizing scientific conferences and summer schools. Since 2021, he has taught the course “Research Methods and Methodology” within the joint educational programme International Business Management for the Belt and Road Countries in cooperation with Hong Kong Chu Hai College (Hong Kong, China).

Denys M. Rusak is a member of several national and international project and initiative working groups, and has participated in numerous national and international internships.

Valeriy V. Rieznikov has served as an expert in several educational and scientific projects, including the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Eastern Ukrainian Centre for European Studies; Jean Monnet Module “Reforming the Public Administration System of the European Union: Lessons for Ukraine” (2024–2027); “Business Models for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Digital Transformation” (2022–2025); and “Sustainable Thinking and Entrepreneurship” (2022–2025). He was also a member of the Jean Monnet Module working group “European Integration of Ukraine in the Context of Industry 4.0” (2019–2022). He took part in the International Summer School in Refugee Law and Rights 2023: “War Displaced Persons’ Protection Rights – Case Study Ukraine”, Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic, 2023); “Training/Induction to the Council of Fellows” (Abuja, Nigeria, 2023). He was an expert at the international summer school “Mass Displacement: Focus on IDPs in Post-Soviet Countries”, where he delivered lectures on “Geopolitical Position of Ukraine in Europe” (2019–2023). He participated in the international project “JOUKRAINE – Joint Online Learning with Kharkiv Universities in Ukraine” supported by DAAD, Meschede, Federal Republic of Germany (2022, 2023), and in a professional development programme Online English Language and Business at the University of York (United Kingdom, 2022).

Lina S. Polishchuk participated in the “OSINT” training (working with databases, 2021); the training “Trade Policy Assessment Methodology” (2022); the Research School for University Lecturers by SoftServe Academy (2023); the training “Resilience: Stress Resistance Skills in Modern Life” (2024); and the research training “Strategies and Tools for Building International Consortia for Horizon Europe Projects” (2025). She delivered lectures on EU and Ukrainian trade policy within the Summer and Winter Diplomat Schools and training sessions of the Ukrainian Association of International Economists (2022–2025); and gave lectures at the International Winter School “Ukraine – EU: Steps Towards Accession. Integration of the Agricultural Sector into the European and Global Economic Space”, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (2025).

Yurii Yu. Hvatov is a member of several national and international project and initiative working groups, and has participated in numerous national and international internships.

Liudmyla O. Shvorak participated in the research and pedagogical internship “Theory and Practice of Scientific and Pedagogical Approaches in Education” at ISMA (Riga, Latvia, 2021); in the internal mobility project for lecturers of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Kyiv National Economic University (DAAD, 2022); and delivered a lecture course “Economic Mechanisms of International Integration” at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg (FAU) under the Erasmus+ programme (2023). She collaborated with Copenhagen Business School within a short-term grant, conducting research seminars on “Ukraine–EU Integration” and “Prospects for Ukraine–EU Trade” (2023); participated in the Professional Development Programme of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities “AUU Global Synergy through Collaborative Online International Learning” (2024); earned a micro-degree “Educational Innovation and Leadership” from Tallinn University (2024); and took part in Erasmus+ (Teaching and Training) at the College of Europe in Natolin, where she delivered lectures and consultations on “Digital Performance and Digital Competitiveness of EU Countries” (2024). She was among the organizers of the COIL project “United Expertise: Tackling Ukraine's Wartime Challenges through Interdisciplinary Solutions” (2024); participated in the International Week “Connecting EUROPE” and International Teaching Week at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (Austria, 2024); gave lectures on Ukraine–EU Economic Integration Mechanisms and Trade Specifics within certification programmes of the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; and taught the lecture course “EU Digital Transformation and Competitiveness” at Jagiellonian University (Kraków, Poland, 2025).

Anton S. Nanavov served as an expert on innovation product and service monetization for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and as a trade analyst and research analyst in the project “Implementation of the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement in the Field of Trade” (GIZ GmbH).

Oleksandra S. Shepel participated in the Erasmus+ Staff Training Week at the University of Murcia (Kingdom of Spain), May 19–23, 2025; in the international internship programme at the University of Granada (Kingdom of Spain) during the first semester of the 2023–2024 academic year within the “Arqus for Ukraine” project; and in the professional development programme “The Paradigm of Higher Education under the Conditions of War and Global Challenges of the 21st Century” (July 18–August 28, 2022), Certificate No. ADV-1807217-OSUIA dated August 28, 2022.

The department is one of the recognized research centres for the study of the global economy and international economic relations in Ukraine and Europe.

Over decades of productive work, the department has established:

  • The University Scientific School «Methodology of Research in the Global Economy and International Economic Relations» (scientific leader of the school: Professor O.I. Shnyrkov, established in 1989).

Two departmental scientific schools:

  • «The European Union in the Global Economic Environment» (led by Professor O.I. Shnyrkov)

  • «Development of Contemporary Global Economic Issues» (led by Professor A.S. Filipenko).

Since 1977, the department has prepared and successfully defended 130 candidate theses and 33 doctoral dissertations, as well as 7 PhD theses. Since 2000, 44 monographs, 64 textbooks and teaching aids, and more than 700 scientific articles have been published, including over 50 in Scopus and WoS journals.

During 2019–2022, the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, implemented the project "In-depth Development of European Studies in Ukraine: An Interdisciplinary Approach" (No. 611625-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-CoE) was implemented at the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations within the framework of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. The project aimed to develop European studies, disseminate knowledge about the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and expand cooperation with Ukrainian society.  

Within the framework of the Centre's activities, international conferences, EU law competitions (moot courts), specialised courses and training sessions for students, schoolchildren, teachers, civil servants and representatives of public organisations were held. Considerable attention has been paid to scientific and educational work: monographs, textbooks, lecture notes and information booklets have been prepared, and educational programmes on EU economics, politics, law and communications have been updated. Thanks to these initiatives, the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations has become a methodological centre with open educational resources in the field of European studies and a platform for discussions on current trends in EU development and Ukraine-EU relations.

  • 2016-2025: The department studied the budgetary scientific topic «Theory and Mechanisms of the Development of International Integration Processes in the Early 21st Century», led by Doctor of Economics, Professor O.I. Shnyrkov.

  • «International Legal and Social Mechanisms for Countering Separatism in Ukraine» – led by Doctor of Economics, Professor N.V. Reznikova (2020-2023).

Interdisciplinary scientific research within the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (Erasmus+) – led by Doctor of Economics, Professor O.I. Shnyrkov (2019-2022).
